Volunteer with Us - Ways to Help

Interested in volunteering, but not sure what to do? 

 

Already volunteering, but wondering what else you can do? Please consider one (or more!) of the following:​

  • Dog For A Day (DFAD)

  • Foster

  • Thrift store

    • sorting, pricing, register, cleaning, setup and close

  • Visit boarded dogs

    • bathing, training, giving lots of love, walking, socializing

  • Transporting animals/supplies

    • taking materials, supplies, animals from/to clinics, events, thrift store etc.

  • Help at fundraisers and adoption events

    • man booths, take donations, meet and greet, handle animals, give out literature, recruit volunteers, answer questions, set up and break down

  • Serve on committees

    • help with logistics involved in planning fundraising, events, educational efforts, media contact, networking within the community

  • Maintain thrift store building

    • paint, clean, hang signs, move displays, miscellaneous handiwork

  • IT support

    • help volunteers/employees with troubleshooting computer issues, upgrades, interacting with software vendors, etc.

  • Social media

    • post on social media platforms for Animal Aid for awareness, education, donations, adoptions; answer social media direct messages and address questions/comments on posts

  • Newsletter and print media

    • create quarterly newsletter and prep for mailing, create/update print media such as brochures and sign up sheets

  • Community outreach

    • work with committees and board to reach out to possible sources of donation funds and volunteers

  • Website

    • update and maintain the AAOT website

  • Clerical help

    • appointment scheduling for animals and for meet and greets as needed, update Shelter Manager, make general phone calls, answer facebook messages and posts, screen volunteers, do reference checks

  • Photography

    • take pictures at events, fundraisers, and at clinics for website, social media, print media, newsletters, scrapbooks, public relations, etc.
