The Thrift Store Manager is a full-time position, working 40-45 hours per week. The Thrift Store is located at 6811 E 21st St, in Tulsa. The typical schedule will follow the store operating operating hours, which are: Tuesday - Saturday 9:30am – 5:30pm. Starting pay for this position is $17 per hour.
Summary: The Manager of Animal Aid of Tulsa Thrift Store is directly responsible for all aspects of running the day to day operations of the store. Thrift Store revenue provides key support for Animal Aid’s mission to rescue sick and injured stray animals. Current store hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
It is important that the Manager leads by example by modeling behavior desired of other staff. This includes always behaving in a professional manner in regards to attitude, work ethic, language, action, customer service, and dealing with complaints or disputes. The Manager will work the store’s busiest days, including Saturdays, and ensure proper staffing. All employees are expected to treat each other, volunteers, fosters, and board members, as well as the general public, with courtesy and compassion.
Managing & Supervising staff:

Emphasize to staff the importance of their role in the organization.

Be receptive to feedback from the staff.

Scheduling of staff and volunteers.

Overseeing that cashiers have proper training on register. Monitor and provide additional training as needed.

Manager is responsible for employee and volunteer morale. If there are staff issues, report immediately to the Executive Director.

Ensure all employees take a daily lunch break and clock in and out.

All employees, including management, must be clocked out if doing personal errands or business.

Oversee that the store is open for the full hours of operation and reinforce with staff that we do not rush customers and we do not refuse donations.
Operations:

Coordinate all sales concepts and resources needed for sale.

Oversee the sorting of donations and implement procedures to improve the sorting system.

Walk the store floor and be familiar with the items for sale and the prices listed.

Monitor the pricing of merchandise to ensure guidelines are followed.

Ensure work areas are clean, organized, uncluttered, and ready for the next business day.

Assist staff with answering the telephone, checking voicemails daily, and returning calls or passing along messages to the appropriate staff member as needed.

Assist with all closing tasks, including cleaning, and verify all are complete prior to leaving.

Ensure policies related to staff purchase of merchandise are followed.
Public Relations:

Conduct sales and promotions to maximize merchandise sales and turnover.

Maintain Thrift Store social media pages.

Inform the website manager of changes needed to Thrift Store information on the website.

Provide excellent customer service.

Coordinate with Animal Care staff on adoption events at the store.

Coordinate with Executive Director on advertising.
Administrative:

Understand Animal Aid of Tulsa’s Mission and be able to answer questions about what Animal Aid does.

Be able to explain to others how the Thrift Store benefits the overall organization.

Coordinate with Executive Director on supplies and resources needed to run the store.

Alert the Executive Director or Board Liaison of any facilities needs in order to operate Thrift Store.

Responsible for staff discipline following the guidelines of the Employee Handbook.

Attend monthly board meetings.

Assist in other Animal Aid projects as needed.
Desired Qualifications: The Manager will need a combination of skills and experience to excel at the responsibilities of the job including: retail or business experience, management experience, a knowledge of merchandising, familiarity with social media platforms, strong organizational skills, and the ability to oversee multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with members of the community from diverse backgrounds and remain professional in situations that can be stressful. A passion for helping animals is a must! Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Preference will be given to candidates with retail management experience and an Associate’s Degree or higher in retail management, business administration, merchandising, or similar. The Manager reports to the Executive Director.
