The Tulsa Better Business bureau has received many complaints recently from local and out of state consumers who ordered a dog only to be sadly disappointed with the condition of the pup they got. When contacting the breeder they got the dog from, there was no resolution and some were even threatened. If something like this has happened to you, please contact the Tulsa Better Business Bureau. They are working through the state Attorney General office and their consumer fraud division to help resolve this ongoing problem of puppy mill sales. Send an email through the Tulsa BBB site. When you buy dogs on line or from a breeder, not only are you likely perpetuating and supporting a cruel industry, you - the consumer - run the risk of taking home a sick puppy! Dogs from puppy mills have been reportedly diagnosed with ailments such as respiratory infections and pneumonia, as well as hereditary defects like hip dysplasia. They may also be poorly socialized to people and other animals. Also, your new "purebred" puppy might not really be a purebred. Dogs at puppy mills often breed indiscriminately, and lineage records are sometimes falsified to misrepresent that dog as a purebred when in fact it is a mixed breed. If you are wanting to make a puppy a part of your family, check with local animal rescue groups like Animal Aid first. There are many amazing dogs & cats who need homes. If you are just set on a specific breed, keep in mind that 1 in 4 shelter dogs are purebred.
