IRA rules make giving to charity easier

The Pension Act of 2006 allows transfers from your IRA to go directly to a qualified charity.

The provision provides an exclusion from gross income for certain distributions of up to $100,000 from your IRA account, which would otherwise be included as part of your income.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 70 years of age

  • Distributions may not exceed $100k per year

  • Gifts must be transferred directly to charity

  • No donor advised funds

As always consult your tax advisor for full explainations.
